Immediate Family

Family: A group of people who are related to each other, especially parents and their children.
Parents: A father and a mother.
Father: The male parent of a child.
Mother: The female parent of a child.
Child: A son or daughter of a particular person.
Son: A male child.
Daughter: A female child.
Sibling: A brother or sister.
Brother: A male who has the same parents as another person.
Sister: A female who has the same parents as another person.
Spouse: A husband or wife.
Husband: A man in relation to his wife.
Wife: A woman in relation to her husband.

Extended Family

Relatives: Members of a family.
Grandparents: The parents of your father or mother.
Grandfather: The father of your mother or father.
Grandmother: The mother of your mother or father.
Grandchildren: The children of your son or daughter.
Grandson: The son of your son or daughter.
Granddaughter: The daughter of your son or daughter.
Uncle: The brother of your mother or father.
Aunt: The sister of your mother or father.
Niece: The female child of your brother or sister.
Nephew: The male child of your brother or sister.
Cousin: A child of your aunt or uncle.

Other Family Terms

Step-family: A family that includes a parent and their children from a previous relationship, and the new spouse of the parent.
Blended family: A family that includes children from both parents' previous relationships.
Domestic partner: A person who lives with another person in a committed relationship but is not married to them.
Fiance(e): A person who is engaged to be married.
Ancestor: A person from whom you are descended.
Descendant: A person who is descended from another person.
Patriarch: The male head of a family or tribe.
Matriarch: The female head of a family or tribe.
